Expertise

I have been teaching talented high school seniors how to write college-level research papers for over three years at a highly regarded non-profit boasting over 35 years since its founding. My classes have the highest rate of students completing papers - and thus securing thousands of dollars in scholarship money for college! Working with over three hundred college students at John Jay College, I have fine-tuned the art of guiding students through the process of writing.

Teaching Methods

It's imperative to take the time to get to know students' current skills, strengths, and pain points. Through discussion and initial writing assignments, I'm able to quickly identify which skills need extra development, and I meet students where they are.

All lessons are now conducted online. I use online exercises to reinforce topics covered during lessons. These structures provide variation and independence for the learner.

Juliet’s skill lies in her quietly insistent ability to implant and educe... to foster and pull out an interest you did not foresee your own need to delve in. She is the courageous educator who embraces life-long learning earnestly and is always exploring some new venture in self-improvement , ultimately for the benefit of her students. To hear her praise her students’ accomplishments without indulging in conceit speaks to the kindness and humility that defines her in general. Friendship with Juliet has over the years expressed itself in delicious debates at CUNY Grad Center , Barnard and other NYC institutions. Brooklyn Public Library lawn classes, NYC museum visits and viewings (she is the consummate artist) and constant discussions about our pedagogical crafts and plants factor in a great deal as well! As an educator, her best trait really does lie in her ability to encourage and advise any age group without dumbing down the content or insulting her student - especially the accidental students who walk away from her company, fuller and wiser for having spent time with her. To step out of ‘recommendation-speak’ for a bit, Juliet is just one of the smartest, kindest human beings you will have the pleasure to meet and work with. It’s a privilege to recommend her to any job she desires.

Juliet worked for me as an instructor at Legal Outreach. She taught a class on material culture, to a group of senior high school students, that required the students to complete a research project on a topic of their own choosing. Juliet was a pleasure to work with in every way. She is very reliable and her students had a great rapport with her. Juliet was very dedicated to her students, and more students in her class successfully completed a research project that in any of the other sections of the same class. The success of her students is definitely a testament to Juliet's skill and perseverance. I would hire Juliet again in a second, and I would highly recommend her for any other teaching position.
